The gland is partly regulated by the androgen hormone that decreases with age. Meibomian gland changes play a significant role in the increase of symptoms of dry eye. A decline in secretions can be an indication of gland dysfunction. As people age, there is a change or reduction in normal meibomian gland secretions. Most specialists believe that there is a link between blepharitis and dry eye. Anterior blepharitis occurs on the outer edge of the eyelids while posterior blepharitis occurs on the inner edges of the lids. Blepharitis is normally defined by its location on the eyelid. While it can be irritating, the condition does not cause permanent vision impairment. This disorder is commonly associated with skin or bacterial conditions. The condition is a common cause of dry eyes. The cucumber relieves the irritation and moisturizes the irritated skin.Blepharitis is a condition that causes inflammation of the oil glands in the eyelids. Place cool slices of fresh cucumber on the closed eyes.If the irritation still persists, rinse the eyes using fresh water. Soak a cotton ball in the solution and squeeze it over the eyes until totally wet. Mix ¼ teaspoon of baking soda with ½ cup water until dissolved.If there is still soreness, repeat the procedure until the eyes get better. Keep the tea bags on the eyes until it becomes warm. Soak 2 tea bags in cool water, close the eyes and place each tea bag on every eye. Tea has anti-inflammatory properties that lessen the irritation and swelling.If the facecloth becomes warm, soak it again in cool water and repeat the process. Soak a small face towel in cool water and drape it over a closed eyelid for at least a few minutes to lessen the itchiness. Cal-hypo or Cal-hypo is an unstabilized form of chlorine and has a pH value of 12 and effective in killing algae rapidly.Di-Chlor or sodium dichloro-s-triazinetrione has a neutral pH of 7 which is the most expensive form in treating swimming pools.It has low pH of 3 and effective in controlling algae. Tri-Chlor is a stabilized tablet form of chlorine. ![]()
